6 Month Recap

Selena had her six month doctor visit.

Outcome:

Weight – almost 14 pounds. She’s in the 10th percentile. She’s tiny, but the doc says not to worry as long as she’s growing and gaining weight.

Height – she’s taller :)

She has two follow up appointments, one to check her head for a possible helmet (just in time for football season) and another to check out a lump we found under her arm. The doctor says it’s probably nothing since it’s soft, but he would rather be safe and check it out.

I finally found a food Selena hates. It was some country vegetable mix. She actually gagged. Man, they said she would let us know when she didn’t like something and well she hates country veggies!!!

In other news

Aunt Marcia is visiting and we’ve had a fun time chilling, checking out the farmer’s market and hanging around.

This weekend Peter and I are in Rachele and Chad’s wedding. Should be a good time, but we have to find someone to hold Selena during the wedding….hmmm.

  • Heat Index of 115! What?

Florida, destination – Amelia Island. We’ve never been to the east coast of Florida. The water was nice, the beaches were long and the heat was….Florida heat! I have to say I’d come again. We could own property here, it was very quaint and relaxing…..just what we needed.

Sarah, Sean, Kris, Sonia, cousin D, Selena, Peter and I all rented a condo on the beach. Historically this place is pretty interesting. Google it!

Little turtles are protected on the beach with caution tape and notes saying if you mess with the nest you get a rather large fine.

    Interesting happenings:

Our family can cook. Woo wee. Dinner every night was fantastic and I have to say I didn’t cook anything because I wouldn’t be writing it was fantastic…hahha. I think I gained weight on this trip.

    Things I’ve learned:

Sean thinks a ghost saved her from a snake when she was in college.

Sonia does not like Liberachi like Kris and I thought she did.

Kris cares more about knowledge than friends and money. (we played a game called Imagineiff).

Sarah secretly has a voyeuristic nature….her binoculars are always present.

Peter is a secret chef. He should cook more at home…heehee

D loves balls, loves to sing the second line song, and everything is “hot.”

Selena loves to eat…and she’s still eating. Oh and she saw her first Saints game (it was a pre-season game but it still counted)!

And the rest of the story

Selena did great flying, she only cried when hungry and when she was really tired. I had to change her poopy diaper on the last flight and there wasn’t a changing station in the bathroom, so I changed it on the stewardess’ chair…they freaked out. Seriously I had no idea what to do. I need a dummies guide to babies.

    Dummies guide to babies

Seriously I do need a guide….hahah. Selena doubled her food intake, not sure what to do, good thing she has a doc. appointment this week. She’s getting chunky!

I’m ready for the next vacation!!!!

  • Ok so the blog had issues, but we’re back and we have a new design.

It’s August and man Selena is getting bigger and balder. Milestones; she rolls over, can hold a plastic bottle, and almost sits up. We introduced her to her first solids; rice cereal, bananas, apple sauce and sweet potatoes. Her favorite, hands down, is apple sauce…she freaked out when she first tasted it and I couldn’t shovel food fast enough in her mouth. I since made her organic apple sauce and a huge supply of sweet potatoes. She also had her first trip to the zoo, the milk carton derby races and frisbee golf.

Oh and she sleeps through the night. That started at 4 months. We’re lucky….whew!

I’m back to work 5 days a week and I miss being with Selena. Mom is watching her now and seems to be having fun. She takes her on daily adventures.

In other news we’re about to head to Florida. It will be our first plane trip with Selena. I’m crossing my fingers we aren’t “those parents with a screaming kid.”

    Latest news for me:

I dyed my hair a bright blonde, I’m studying to take the GRE and I made a puppet theater for Selena. I just need to paint it, put up a curtain and make some puppets.

    In Peter’s world:

He just got back from a bachelor party in Portland. Apparently there’s full nude strip shows. Hmmm never been to a full nude show. Peter is trying to see how high he can let the backyard grass get. We got a quote for a mower and they wanted $600. WTF.

  • My First Momma’s Day

Looks like I’ve neglected to write for a few weeks….woops!

To catch you up… Selena is growing and growing. We have a nighttime sleep schedule going and our routine is working. Her nap time sucks (we’re still working on it). In a week she’ll be sleeping in her room…I’m sure she’ll protest, but it has to happen.

Selena can lift her head and soon she’ll be crawling…maybe :) Check her out on the left.

Selena is really talking and likes when we sing, or put on music…could she possibly grow to be a musician? Hmmm. Her favorite instrument so far seems to be the tambourine. She hates talk radio and cries until I change the channel hahahah. Check out the pic….she’s playing the guitar in her sleep.

    Mother’s Day

Peter made me a huge breakfast with French toast. He gave me an all day spa gift certificate which includes a massage, facial, pedicure, manicure and lunch. Peter and Selena took a nap then we were off to the horse races. It was super packed, but we had a good time and Selena was observant checking out the people. We busted her placing bets….hahah yeah right. We placed bets, but didn’t win anything.

Later in the day we met up with mom and took her to dinner and had a nice time talking and hanging. Mom made me earrings with Selena’s birthstone. We gave mom a photo album put together on Shutterfly.

My first mother’s day was awesome and I’m so glad to have a little wee one in our life. Life sure is different, but it’s nice to see things through her eyes. Everything seems so magical…she’s a little sponge and everything is new and exciting…sometimes too exciting.

    In other news:

Peter and I are going to our first concert in a loooooong time on Thursday. We’re ready…woo wee.

I go back to work in two weeks…I’m sad but excited all in one.

On Friday Aunt Linda comes into town. Can’t wait to hang out with her and show her Seattle.

Check out the latest video of Selena here.

  • Sara and Grambo have been in town for a visit. Its been great having them here to help out. Selena enjoyed meeting her Aunt and Great Grandmother.

    Breast feeding in public…egads

I’ve been venturing out for errands with Grambo and Sara and getting more comfortable getting out of the house with Selena. I haven’t run into a public breast feeding episode but I’m sure it will happen soon. I’ve been getting cabin fever, and frustrated with the whole figuring out the baby’s needs etc., but Peter and I are getting better and recognizing what she wants more and more….this is hard work…who knew…hahhahah.

In other news we’ve been going to dinner frequently and the Sounders season kick off is coming up. Peter and I need to figure out what to do with Selena for the first game…or it looks like we may have to flip a coin.

Grambo leaves tomorrow morning and Ryan and Mike come in tomorrow night, just in time to celebrate with a green beer!

  • Week 21, Pumpkins, Costumes…oh my

I’m in week 21. My belly is getting larger and I’m getting a bit more uncomfortable. The baby is about the size of a small bear cub when its born. I hope Peli doesn’t look like a bear cub when she comes out. Hahah.

Bubble baths have become an extra luxury that I’m enjoying. My back is starting to hurt and my feet….oh the joys of getting bigger. I feel Peli quite often in my belly…its very strange.

In other news. We carved some awesome pumpkins this week and I went to a masquerade ball.
