Thanksgiving in NYC and week 27

Thanksgiving in NYC was a blast. Peter and I stayed in Jersey city with Ryan and Mike and we met up with the family in NYC to share some memories and turkey. It was a whirlwind, but we saw two Broadway shows (Hair and Avenue Q, some saw the Toxic Avenger and Wicked, we split up in three different groups that particular night), went to the MOMA (saw an exhibit from Tim Burton that rocked), walked all over the city, went to the top of the Empire state building, rode in a limo, went out to eat a lot and spent a hell of a lot of money.

Thanksgiving dinner at the restaurant was excellent and later that night (after the Empire State building trip and limo ride) we talked and played drinking games at Aunt Mary and Uncle Joe’s place. Our friends Tommy and Dennis were in town and joined us. Also, Kristen joined us for dinner…..she’s an old friend of mine from CBS…so lots of fun guests hung out.

Odd things that happened; Uncle Joe got yelled at by some lady who asked if he spoke English…..Uncle Joe had a few words to say back and they weren’t nice. We won the lotto for Broadway tickets twice. All of us won for Hair, except for myself and Grambo, so we all got box seats for $25. I won for Wicked and got two front row tickets for $25 bucks.

We took the best family photo on top of the Empire State building…hahah it makes me laugh so hard looking at it. I posted it below. Matt is hidden behind Andy and you can see Andy is turned sideways talking to him, “What I’m not standing in front of you.” We will definitely have to take another family trip soon.

I’m in week 27 in the pregnancy and I’m getting big. Apparently the baby is the size of a small pot roast. Gross to think of her as food, but that’s what the book said. Also, my amniotic fluid has reduced in half so I should see feet and hands kicking me from within…..scary. I learned that the amniotic fluid was absorbed back into my body, I was afraid this would be coming out of me….hahahah. I felt great in NYC and this weekend….although I was a little pissed when I had to ask Peter for help tying my shoe :)

Seems odd I only have a few more months to go, but I hear these months will be hard.
The baby’s nerves in her ears continue to develop so she’ll respond to sounds more consistently. I guess I’ll start singing more to her.

She’s about 1.7 pounds. I can feel her and I can feel her when she has the hiccups….which has been a few times.

This weekend I had bloody nose issues which is normal for pregnant woman and my back is starting to hurt off and on. I can fix that by just paying attention to my sitting, standing and how I sleep.

In other news we bought a crib, changing table and I started the wall mural. I’ll post more pics, but the one below is from my phone. I also bought some new ugly maternity clothes. I’m noticing maternity pants tend to slide down and I’m constantly pulling them up….do they make suspenders for pregnant women?

The Saints are 10-0….woo hoo and we went to the MLS cup Sunday night and froze our butts off. Peli squirmed a lot, so I’m not sure she was digging the loud crowd noises, or maybe she was.

Off to NYC tonight for the Thanksgiving holidays.

  • What’s up doc

So I had my doctor visit on Monday. Everything is normal. I’ve gained about 17 pounds so far. Egads, I’ve never weighed that much. It’s all in my belly and boobs. We listened to Peli and heard her kicking and she had the hiccups, which apparently is quite normal for babies. Next visit I have to do an iron test and glucose test.

Dad sent us a video called Pregnancy for Dummies. Peter and I enjoyed watching it, but after I had dreams about the birth etc. I had a natural birth and it hurt like hell, then the next week I was changing Peli’s diaper and she told me, “You don’t change my diaper like Peter.” So I told her, “I’m not your father. We do things differently.” Shish talking kid at a week old….hahhah.

  • 25 weeks, Saints, and Cribs

Yup I’m at 25 weeks and at the end of the week I’ll be in the third trimester. Seems like things are flying by since pregnancy is coinciding with the Holidays and all.

This week the baby weighs 1 1/4 pound and is about 13 inches long, but who really knows because at this point all babies grow differently. I have a doc appointment tomorrow, so I’ll be able to add more. I’m getting more tired again and I can’t eat as much….I try to eat like normal and then wham, I’m super full and it has to do with my stomach being all squished. Oh and BTW I got the H1N1 shot. Had to really….if I weren’t pregnant I wouldn’t have done it.

In other news Saints are 9-0, I can’t believe it. We almost lost it today, but prevailed in the end. To the bowl!

I went for a prenatal massage today and it rocked. Thanks Sara and Denise for my birthday present, it was extremely relaxing and I may have to do it again in a month or two.

We’re about to purchase a crib and changing table for Peli…they were out of the crib today, so we’ll try again later this week. The room is all clean and I can actually start the mural this week. I’ll post pics. Also, Peter and I watched the second half of pregnancy for dummies….we cried when the babies popped out..hahha.

Here are some horrible pics of me from this week..man I tell you there was a time when I was photogenic…what happened? Ha!

  • 24 weeks, I almost forgot

So I’m a little behind this week, but I’ve been so tired. I can’t figure out if it has to do with the weather or Peli. Probably a little of both.

Peli weighs a little over a pound and is the size of a small bag of coffee. She could be the length of a banana as well. Length wise she’s probably 11.5 inches. Wow…that’s in my belly.

I had to buy what I call a “fat jacket” so I can zip my jacket up around my belly….hahahh fun stuff.

I was grabbing images from the camera and realized Peter took some pics of his poo, yeah I dunno…he thought it warranted documenting, well it almost made it up here…hahhaha.

In other news the Saints are kicking butt, the Seattle Sounders (soccer team) lost their game, so they aren’t in the playoffs. I started Christmas shopping. I’m about half done. Peter and I are getting ready for our NYC trip and in the meantime we’ll try to get our house ready so I can start the wall mural for Peli this weekend. Oh the plans we have, let’s see what actually happens. Hahahah.

  • Halloween, Disney World and week 23

Left for Disney world on 10/29/09 arrived on 10/30/09 and went straight to Magic Kingdom. We rocked the park….rode everything that I could ride. Went out to dinner…watched the boys proceed to get pretty loaded. Then they went swimming.

Halloween at Epcot rocked. It was the international food and wine festival! I got in free because it was my birthday and they made me wear a button that said it was my birthday. I think it’s mandatory for all park employees to wish you a happy birthday….hahahah. We had two friends from New OrleansĀ  meet up with us. We went to dinner at the Paris restaurant and watched the fireworks. It was about 90 degrees that day so I didn’t get to wear my costume….I tried to add blood to my neck but it melted. Later that night we managed to wear our wigs to the pool…so ha. Ryan’s costume looked like a drag queen battled Freddie Kruger.

Sunday we went to a water park then Ryan and Mike left. We had a great time with them. Ryan and Mike bought Peli some cute outfits and Ryan actually felt her move. Peter actually saw my belly move….freaky stuff.

Sunday night we went to the convention dinner….oh yeah I was in Disney World for a work convention. hahahah. Peter won a iPod touch at the dinner. Lucky dude he is, but he gave it to me for my bday. He’s a sweetie.

Monday I went to the convention then we hit up Hollywood Studios where I got picked to get gallons of water dumped on me. You can see the video here. We also watched the Saints spank the Falcons….Who Dat baby!

Tuesday morning I presented at the conference. I went to the wrong room and set up….hahah luckily I figured it out before I started. The presentation went well and I got great feedback and lots of business cards from people wanting more information.

Tuesday night we went to the convention dinner at Hollywood studios on the Indiana Jones set. They did a private stunt show for us, had a belly dancer, great food and Peter and I got yelled at for jumping on the stunt mat. Ha! We’re rebels.

Wednesday we left…..nice trip. Felt like I was gone for a month.

Oh yeah and Peli is about the size of a small coffee bag and weighs a little over a pound. She moves a lot and I figured out she’s not a fan of fireworks and planes.

Today is 11/6/09 and I just got the H1N1 vaccine. I’m still not sure about it, if it weren’t for the wee one I wouldn’t have gotten it.
